ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Touch. What has it transformed into today? To me, it has become a fragile entity of immense value, distant and unattainable. An object of desire that also fills you with fear. A fear of the unpredictable, unknown consequence of touching it. It reminds me of an ancient artefact preserved in a museum. Beautiful, delicate, priceless. You are intrigued by it, fascinated by what it represented in its time, how it formed a crucial part of everyday life in a long lost age. And how it has now been reduced to a precious relic, to be admired, from a distance. In this work, I pay tribute to Rodin’s iconic sculpture, ‘La Catedral’.
